I’ve been hanging around YouTube of late, watching videos and commenting here and there, often on Muslim channels. I am fascinated by the religion and am excited to learn more about it. I’m particularly interested to see how Muslims integrate well established historical and scientific facts with their religion — their worldview. I am continually challenged to do the same with my Christian worldview! My hope is that we can mutually learn from each other.
I’ve had many, many productive chats. Along the way, I’ve managed to draw the ire of some of the channel moderators, who will, from time to time, block my replies from being seen. I can see them when I log in, but if I switch identities, they disappear. With that in mind, plus desiring the ability to format conversations (add diagrams, block quotes, bulleted lists, etc.) I am opening up this thread primarily for my Muslim friends in order to provide a safe, confidential forum that is not subject to censorship from either YouTube or the channel moderators.
A guest must be logged in to comment. You can use YouTube/Google, Facebook, or Twitter to authenticate, in addition to WordPress’ native login. For third party authentication, we’ll only store your name, avatar (logo) and email address. After that, you’ll have access to your profile page so you can specify a screen name (if you used your real name when you created the third party account). A working email must be provided in order to send you an initial password (only required for WordPress native logins), for notification when someone replies to your comment, or in the event I update my privacy policy and need to notify you. I pledge to never contact you directly using your email address, nor allow it to leave this site unless I’ve received a court order compelling me to do so (please see my About page for more details). Lastly, you control your own data. Your data is safeguarded in transit using 256-bit SSL encryption. You can “unlink” your third party credentials using your profile page, or even delete your account (which will also delete all the comments you authored as well).
So, that said, I’ll pin this as the top post and invite any and all to civilly discuss any topic. If you use profanity or threaten anyone, your post will be deleted. Your first post will be moderated so you won’t immediately see it. Commercial posts will also be deleted. If we get going on a topic, I’ll likely open a new post and transfer any comments to the new post in order to keep the top post uncluttered. Let us learn together. Welcome, and please come in!
